Lunchtime entertainment… First Fridays showcase vocalists and musicians during the lunch hour on the first Friday of each month beginning in September through June. Sterling Concert Series provides a variety of concerts and shows featuring fun entertainment. Northeastern Jr. College: Large scale, fully produced concerts feature students, often collaborating with outside entities like The Air Force Falconaires and The Colorado Ballet for fantastic interaction with the community. Downtown Sterling has been placed on the U.S. historical register. A walking tour through the district will showcase many picturesque buildings, including the local courthouse. The town was founded in 1873 and incorporated in 1884 . The first house being built by William Hadfield in 1871 near the South Platte River.
